Sorting It Out: Thoughts Vs. Circumstances

When you get upset about something in your day-to-day life, do you stop to consider what exactly is making you upset?

I’ll give you an example. If you’re driving to work and someone cuts you off in traffic, it might make you incredibly angry. In this situation, what’s making you angry? The other driver? Or your thoughts about the other driver?

That distinction is what I want to dig into today. As humans we have the amazing ability to tell ourselves stories about our lives. But those stories aren’t always accurate reflections of reality, and our thoughts can make life a lot more frustrating and difficult than it needs to be. Thankfully, have the ability to choose better thoughts – which means we can make life a lot better with our thinking, too.
